Adelaide Bank - EB Comparisons

10 October 2008

Comparison of Current Adelaide Bank Employees Enterprise Agreement 2005 and New Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Collective Agreement 2008 – 2011

Since the late August 2007 announcement of the impending merger of the Adelaide and Bendigo Banks (which went ahead in November 2007) the ASU has been working to positively support the opportunities which arise through the merger for staff and at the same time to ensure that no staff member is negatively impacted upon by the merger.

Staff felt that it was important for Adelaide Bank staff to continue to negotiate in the way that has positively worked and delivered good agreements for a number of years. The ASU pushed to ensure that these negotiations occurred.

At the commencement of negotiations for the new Adelaide Bank Agreement in July 2008 ASU Reps and officials put principles forward which focused on ensuring staff were adequately consulted in relation to all issues potentially impacting on your job security, securing and improving all existing entitlements and ensuring that a Union agreement would be collectively negotiated into the future. These principles were supported by the petition signed by hundreds of Adelaide Bank staff.

Early in negotiations the new Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Agreement was put on the table by management as their way forward. This has now been taken off the table but management have indicated that they want all staff of the new Bendigo and Adelaide Bank to be covered by this agreement in twelve months time.

Attached is a comparison of the current Adelaide Bank Agreement and the new Bendigo Bank Agreement.

On 15 October a meeting will be held from 6.30pm at the ASU Office, 5 - 9 Rundle Street, Kent Town to discuss the changing environment and the future of wages and conditions for Adelaide Bank staff. Discussion will include contemplation of the letters of offer which will shortly be issued to staff. All Adelaide Bank staff are welcome.
