Celebrating our Past, Building our Future - 100 Years of the ASU16 August 2005On 29 July ASU Workplace Reps and activists celebrated 100 years of our Union, discussed strategies to build our future and creatively explored the current and impending challenges we face. Please enjoy the photos from the day!
Around 120 Workplace Reps from a range of different workplaces and industries heard speakers discuss the work of our Union's heroines and heroes. ACTU Secretary Greg Combet addressed the Conference about the impending Federal Government attacks on our rights at work, the negative effect these will have on workers and their families and how we can work together to ensure our Union continues to secure and improve wages and conditions for another 100 years and beyond. Branch Secretary Andy Dennard specifically discussed with Representatives the need to ensure our Union focuses adequate resources on growing our Union and planning to win improvements in wages and conditions for members across the industries we cover. Members endorsed clear strategies for building resources and implementing these plans. Branch Secretary Andy Dennard and Branch Assistant Secretary Katrine Hildyard will be discussing these strategies with the broader membership over the next few months. Workplace Reps at the Conference were inspired by the energy they created throughout the day ... onwards and upwards into the next 100 years.
